Forbes Genealogy

I have managed to trace my direct FORBES line back to Jacob FORBES, who was born abt. 1726. Jacob is somewhat of a mystery but according to my research I feel comfortable in knowing that he is definitely a part of my lineage.

According to the writings of William H. Tuttle, quite a few of the FORBES came from the Mohawk Valley region of New York and were members of the Dutch Reform Church. The name was often spelled Forbish when they first came to Madison County. In records the name is spelled Vorbes, Farbus, Farbos, Varrbush, and Farbusch. They settled in what is now the Town of Lincoln. (Names & Sketches of the Pioneer Settlers of Madison County, New York)

Following the migration of my FORBES ancestors, you will see that my research starts in New York, moves to Wisconsin and eventually ends up in Texas. You know what they say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could!" :-)
